Days 1, 2 and 3
We board our deluxe motor coach and travel north into Chicago area to overnight for our next day’s departure at Amtrak Union Station.  On day 2 we depart for Union Station and have lunch at their food court while the baggage handlers check in the luggage. Then we board Amtrak for our rail adventure into the Rocky Mountains. On Day 3 we arrive in Havre, MT in the evening. After your Tour Director claims the luggage, Red Cap service will bring the luggage to us to be transported to the hotel.

Day 4
We travel east skirting Glacier National Park, passing by Flathead Lake on our way to Kalispell, nestled in Flathead Valley in the Salish Mountains of northern Montana. This area is known for its seed potatoes and sweet cherries which are processed in great quantities.

Day 5
Today we enjoy a guided tour of Glacier National Park. We travel the winding “Going to the Sun” road across the Continental Divide through Logan Pass at an altitude of 6,664 feet. The peak is a veritable fairyland with snow-frosted peaks and sparkling ice caps. We see Lake MacDonald, the largest Lake in the park, before the tour comes to an end at the west side of Glacier Park. Next, we travel into Alberta, Canada, to view the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park before arriving at our hotel.

Day 6
Today we travel through Alberta where we see more beautiful scenery. Before checking into our hotel in Banff, where we stay for two nights, we enjoy a stop at Sulphur Mountain for exhilarating gondola ride to the 7,500 foot summit for a spectacular view of the Bow Valley below. The rest of the evening is yours to explore Banff and its many shops that are within walking distance of our hotel.

Day 7
Make sure you have plenty of film with you today. We travel the Banff-Jasper Highway; known as the Icefields Parkway, to see some of the most majestic scenery in the Rockies. We pause at the gorgeous Chateau Lake Louise, located on the shore of the lake. What a beautiful setting for a château, with its crystal blue lake and a backdrop of the Victoria Glacier. Perhaps the most awe-inspiring sight of the day is the great Columbia Icefield, 150 square miles of ice straddling the boundary of Banff and Jasper National Parks. This is the largest accumulation of ice in the Rocky Mountains, and we take a snowcoach ride to view the tongue of the Athabasca Glacier with ice 1,000 feet thick! We return to Banff, to enjoy the downtown area for the evening.

Day 8  
We travel through Calgary on our way to Glacier National Park, which contains over a million acres of the finest mountain scenery in America. Geological processes have formed more than 50 glaciers and 200 lakes.

Day 9
Our late departure allows for time to enjoy this majestic beauty at Many Glacier before traveling to Havre, MT for our last evening in the Big Sky Country. Our dinner tonight will be at The Duck Inn.

Day 10
This morning we visit Buffalo Jump, one of the largest prehistoric Indian bison kill and campsites located in northern Montana. Then we are transported back in time to the 1880’s relive the history of the Great West ‘Beneath the Streets’ of Havre. See first hand the commerce of early days on the wild and wooly frontier. Tour the Sporting Eagle, Wah Sing Laundry, Shorty Young’s Office, Gourley Bothers Bakery and more. After lunch, we board AMTRAK for our rail back to Chicago.

Days 11 and 12
Rise and shine to Minnesota. Enjoy the scenery as we continue east through Wisconsin to Illinois and our destination for the night. We leave the rail behind and board our motorcoach to take us to Alsip for the night. After breakfast on day 12 we return home with beautiful memories of the Canadian Rockies.
