Day 1
What could possibly be more enjoyable than a cruise to the Yucatan Peninsula with a congenial group of fellow travelers? Passport is required!! We glide south through Memphis to overnight in Grenada, Mississippi.

Day 2
We travel south into the heart of Mississippi to Vicksburg National Military Park. As we drive the historic 16 mile tour road through Union and Confederate siege lines we get a close-up view of the Union gunboat and the USS Cairo. The 175 foot long ironclad was sunk on December 12, 1862, by underwater Confederate mines just North of Vicksburg in the Yazoo River. Raised in 1964, the restored city class gunboat offers a unique opportunity to view original cannons, cannon carriages, engines, boilers and the pilot house. Continuing to New Orleans we have the opportunity to enjoy the evening exploring the French Quarter around our hotel.

Day 3
This morning we tour this grand city of the Bayou-New Orleans. Our narrated tour includes the renowned French Quarter passing Jackson Square, the Cabildo, seat of the Old Spanish Government, and the architecture that makes New Orleans unique among American cities. We proceed onto St. Louis Cemetery, often called the “City of the Dead” because of its above ground tombs. We continue alongside Lake Pontchartrain and the city’s finest yacht harbor. A ride through the old town of Carrollton takes us on the “trolley” route to see Tulane and Loyola Universities, Audubon Park and beautifully restored mansions. We learn about the spectacular superdome and enter the central business district of New Orleans. It is a thorough and fascinating introduction to the endless variety of the city. Upon arrival at the dock we transfer to our Carnival Cruise ship for a spectacular five-night cruise. Cast away your cares as you enjoy all the amenities and comforts this ship has to offer. It’s five nights of fun with the ship’s first class casino featuring all of your favorite slot machines and gaming tables. In addition, there are wonderful meals, nightly live entertainment and the hospitality of the friendly staff. As New Orleans fades away into the sunset begin the cruise with a scrumptious dinner buffet. After dinner stroll around the ship and get acquainted with your home away from home.

Day 4
Today is a day to enjoy the many shipboard activities and wonderful food. You can relax on deck soaking up the sun, swimming or reading your favorite novel, bargain hunt in the ship’s duty-free ship or play the slots in the casino. Tonight dress in your finest as we will meet the Captain and his Officers while enjoying the great entertainment.

Day 5
Today we dock at Progreso, a small port at the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, which is the jumping off spot for the wonderful colonial city of Merida. At Progreso you can experience the real ‘Old Mexico.’ Here you will have the opportunity to visit tour sites not normally found on other cruises. This is the perfect port for optional shore excursions to Chichen-Itza, Dzibilchaltun, Uxmal and Merida. In the ceremonial center of Chichen-Itza - meaning “The mouth of the well’ - passengers will experience history of the Mayan and Toltec culture, including the Temple of Kukulkan, also known as The Castle. Other stops during a two-hour-air-conditioned bus ride include the largest ball court of all Mesoamerica, The Juego de Pelota, once a sacred field for religious-sport engagements as well as The Observatory and The Temple of Jaguars. Visitors to Dzibilchaltun will encounter over 8,400 structures in the “Place where there is writing in the stones.” Experts believe the first construction here began in the year 500 B.C. Highlights include The Temple of the Seven Dolls, famous because it is the only temple with windows, and the Xlacah River, an underground river that is one of the deepest of the Yucatan. Walking among shrines and buildings of Uxmal make one feel part of the splendor of the city known as “Three Times Built.” This unique archaeological site features the best Mayan samples built in the Yucatan state and visitors here also will find The Temple of the Sorcerer, which legend says was built in only one night by a dwarf that governed in Uxmal. In the late afternoon we return to our ship and prepare for a Mexican fiesta. Whatever your pleasure, the Mexican music, games and food will certainly make this fiesta memorable and fun.

Day 6
This morning our floating resort will bring us to port at Cozumel. Legend has it that Cozumel’s first tourist were the likes of Jean Lafitte, Henry Morgan and Sir Francis Drake. Long before the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors, Mayan women made pilgrimages here to worship Ixchel, the goddess of fertility. The town of San Miguel on Cozumel is well-known as fishing and diving center, and nearby Palancar Reef is a magnet for snorkel and scuba enthusiasts, attracted by its beauty and crystal clear waters. There’s charming youthful atmosphere about San Miguel, with its cafes and shady terraces. Optional shore excursions include a 50 ft. glass bottom boat ride over the famous Paradiso Reef, and a Cozumel Ruins Beach Tour. Enjoy the breeze of the Caribbean waters as we leave Mexico. This Caribbean night will make you feel great….grab a cool drink and enjoy!!

Day 7
Rise early to enjoy the beautiful sunrise on the blue Caribbean waters, or perhaps you would rather sleep in. Either way today is your day to spend as you wish. Tonight is our last night onboard, so let’s make it memorable. We’ll say farewell to our new friends that we’ve made on our fabulous cruise. The entertainers and staff will have a wonderful farewell show, so sit back and enjoy. After five days of sun, fun and sea, our floating resort will ply the Gulf of Mexico northward and return to home port in New Orleans.

Day 8
Upon disembarking, be sure to gather up all your mementos, gifts and special purchases, and board our awaiting motor coach. We travel north to a unique museum in Canton, Mississippi. At the Movie Museum a local guide takes us through the sets and props of movies made in Canton, such as "My Dog Skip," "O Brother, Where Art Thou," and "A Time to Kill,” while giving us the history and making of the films. We have our farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 9
The magical spell of New Orleans, the sea and the ship will provide plenty of conversation for the return trip, and for years to come.
