Feel the thunder of prehistoric beasts as they rumble by during this fall tradition in South Dakota’s beautiful Black Hills. Day 3 | Custer

What a day this will be! Rise and shine bright and early to take in the exciting annual buffalo roundup. Make sure you bring your own lawn chair, camera, binoculars, sunscreen and rain gear. Feel the thunder as buffalo rumble by and park personnel, cowboys and cowgirls do their best to drive the park’s herd into the corrals – passing two designated viewing areas along the way. After the herd is safely in the corrals, the park staff will sort, brand, test and select certain animals for the fall sale, held later in November. Enjoy lunch on the grounds. Late this afternoon, we travel to Crazy Horse Memorial, which honors the culture, tradition and living heritage of North American Indians. Visit the base of the mountain before enjoying the many attractions at the visitor center. Dinner tonight is at Laughing Water Restaurant at Crazy Horse, followed by its spectacular laser light show, “Legends in Light,” before returning to our hotel. (B,L,D)
