Day 1 | Dalton

Meet new friends today as we travel east and south to Dalton, Georgia, where we overnight.

Day 2 | Savannah

Today we head to beautiful Savannah, the oldest city in Georgia. Enjoy dinner this evening at Corleone’s Trattoria. After dinner we board a trolley for the “Trolley Tales of Historic Haunts” tour. (B,D)

Day 3 | Savannah

After breakfast, we will have a Savannah Historic District tour on a trolley. This tour will take you through the National Historic District. Tour the Cathedral of St John the Baptist and Temple Mickve Israel. You will have lunch on your own and free time on River Street. After lunch you will board a boat at Hogan’s Marina for the Bull River Eco-Adventure Cruise. Along this narrated cruise, you will learn about marshland and tidal river ecology. You will have time for a great picture opportunity on the beach on Tybee Island. This evening dinner is included at the Crab Shack, where “the elite eat in their bare feet.” (B,D)

Day 4 | Bluffton - Charleston

Today we travel to Bluffton. Much of the downtown area is on the National Register of Historic Districts. You will see such places as Gobble & Squat, Heywood House built in 1840, Bluffton Oyster Factory and the Fripp House, Colcock-Teel House and the Church of the Cross built in 1857. You will see the entrance to the private residence Rose Hill Mansion and enjoy lunch served on the original furniture in the house. We continue on through the low country to the Charleston Tea Plantation. Take a trolley ride through the tea fields and help ourselves to the iced American Classic Tea and a factory tour. After our visit we will check-in our hotel and enjoy an evening dinner cruise aboard a Spiritline Cruises ship. (B,L,D)

Day 5 | Charleston

This morning we start our day with a tour of the Charleston Historic District. We visit the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. You will see the Joseph P. Riley Stadium and then on to the Battery, one of Charleston’s most historic sites. View White Point Garden, Fort Sumter in the Charleston Harbor, Rainbow Row and the beautiful houses along The Battery. You will have lunch on own in the City Market with free time to shop and explore. This afternoon we visit the Nathaniel Russell House. Sit back this evening and enjoy dinner at The Noisy Oyster. Then enjoy a concert in historic Circular Congregational Church. (B,D)

Day 6 | Charleston to Dalton

Following breakfast and hotel check out, we depart for the Magnolia Plantation, where we visit the main house and ride the Nature Train through the grounds in search of alligators, turtles, egrets and herons. What a beautiful sight to remember as we depart from the Charleston area. Our journey today continues to Dalton, GA, where we overnight. (B)

Day 7 | Return Home

Our captivating experience in the South must come to an end. We travel back to the reality of the Midwest, reminiscing with friends about the wonderful visit to the elegant and historic sites of the southeast. (B)
