Day 1 | Oklahoma City
Day 2 | Dallas
Our first stop today is at the Oklahoma City Memorial, also known as the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial. Our journey continues to Dallas where we pick up our step-on guide and we are off to enjoy the Highlights of Dallas. Learn about Dallas' history, art, architecture, JFK, professional sports, parks and more. Enjoy stops along the way for photos, in-depth information and visit many neighborhoods. We overnight in Waxahachie, TX. (B)
Day 3 | Gruene/New Braunfels
Today we travel into Texas Hill Country where we tour historic Gruene and New Braunfels with an enlightening and entertaining local guide. We will tour Gruene Hall and have lunch at a local establishment. In New Braunfels we visit Landa Park, see Comal Springs, Landa Lake and drive by the historic outdoor art murals and stop at Naegelin's Bakery. We continue to San Antonio, Texas and the Drury Plaza Riverwalk our home for the next 3 nights. This evening we relax aboard our narrated cruise along the Paseo Del Rio. (B,L)
Day 4 | San Antonio
This morning our local guide will meet us for a tour of the city. Visit the famed and historic Alamo where we walk in the footsteps of Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and other valiant men who will live in Texans' memories forever. Hear the Alamo story told under the six flags of Texas. Drive by Mission Concepcion, one of five missions in San Antonio. Tour Mission San Jose, known as the Queen of the Missions. Lunch on your own and browse through shops at El Mercado. This afternoon we tour San Fernando Cathedral. The remainder of the evening is free to enjoy the sites along the Riverwalk. [B)
Day 5 | Fredericksberg
This morning’s drive takes us into the famous Texas Hill County. At the LBJ Ranch near Stonewall, explore President Johnson’s birthplace, final resting place and see the Texas White House. Discover the Wildseed Farm where over 100 species of wildflowers, herbs and garden variety of flowers are grown. Continue to Fredericksburg, a German community with gingerbread trimmed houses, for lunch. Later, explore the quaint shops or visit the National Museum of the Pacific War, our country’s premier Museum dedicated to World War II. (B)
Day 6 | Waco – Hope, AR
We continue north today through Austin to Waco, TX. We stop at Magnolia Market at the Silos, owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines, hosts of HGTV’s Fixer Upper show, for some shopping time. We continue to Hope, AR for the evening. (B)
Day 7 | Return Home
We travel north through Arkansas today as our delightful getaway on The Texas Bluebonnet Trail comes to an end. As we travel back to the reality of the Midwest, reminisce with friends about the wonderful opportunity to visit the colorful and historic sites of Texas. (B)
